Shit, once you get used to it, you start missing it on other handguns.

Waaaay back in the day, my grandfather was a competition shooter in the Navy, so any of us young'ns that reached wanted to learn had the chance. He'd start us on a 22 until our hands got big enough for his 1911.

So, by the time I was old enough to buy my own weapon, I had maybe a decade of ingrained habits with a 1911. Made for some annoyances adapting, and made me utterly unwilling to use anything else for target/pleasure shooting at all. Don't get me wrong, I actually love my Ruger 45, it's a solid gun. But at the range for either serious shooting or having fun, it gets left in the range bag in favor of my grandfather's 1911, which is still a true joy to shoot with.

I inherited it because I was the only grandkid that stayed with 45 as a preferred round, and also did casual semi-competitive shooting. One of the cousins got the 22 we all learned on, and another got his 22 target rig. We get together now and then and head out back of my uncle's barn and swap off between them lol.

Anyway, that's not directly on topic, but I'm old, so I get to do that :)
