Sorry to see what Apollo users are going through today. I’m a narwhal user for years and looks like they’re going to tackle the costly api. Lots of Apollo users are flooding to the narwhal sub. Still an issue with it being on reddit so I still won’t go back despite my favourite app survives
I'm blown away how the narwhal dev sees all this and goes 'yep, Reddit will be a good partner' and I'm sure him being the only one going forward Reddit's going to bend over backwards with them in order to have a poster child and be like "Look! We aren't unreasonable. Someone's paying these fees!" I went and looked and it looks like Reddit already gave them a pass since it'll keep working past July 1st until he gets the subscriptions setup. It's crazy how many comments are outright asking how he got an exception and the dev completely refuses to engage with that lol. Prior to all this Reddit had told everyone else to deal with it by July 1st or get bent. So I'm sure seeing all the fallout they were like let's keep one app around to shut everyone up.
I can't imagine how people are going to pay $7 a month for a gimped reddit experience with prepaid rate limits. (Since the dev said if you go over you'll have to buy more api calls). Like jesus just buy Reddit Premium and use the official app and shut up at that point. I can't imagine how addicted to Reddit you'd have to be to put up with all this as a customer.
