Part one was the most cliche movie I've seen. Bad guys are bad, good guys are good, kid is the chosen one, parents get killed. Hopefully part 2 will be better.
Movies can be cliche and still be good and refreshing. A simple story structure often allows for a great narrative and interesting character moments
Yes that is what it appears to be. The movies are very much for the people that have read the books and know what is going to happen. They had to make a choice and I suspect filling in all the nitty gritty for the average viewer would end up with a 20 part movie, so they decided to make it the readers, not the viewers. If that pays of for not we'll have to wait and see.
