Except this view has been around since ancient greece. It's not mental gymnastics at all. It's just placing more value on the bottom/top spectrum instead of the straight/gay spectrum. Not that we should be viewing anyone as disgraceful. It's not anymore irrational or any less irrational than the homophobia western societies have.
