Maybe I don't understand how Lemmy works yet...

I've created an account on lemmy.world. I've subscribed to [email protected]. In the browser, I can up-vote posts on lemmy.ml. However, when I tried the same thing it the app, it told me I had to log into lemmy.ml to up-vote.

Is this right? How come it works in the browser?

You need to sort your feed from the instance you are logged in to. For me this would be lemmy.blahaj.zone and for you lemmy.world. As far as I understand it, the general everything sorting treats you like you arent logged in so that you can still access content from defederated instances.
