So update: I went to dig it up and transplant it and the root went super deep so I dug as far as I could and then tried pulling, ended up shreddig the whole thing. The bulb I planted was still there with a little eye sprouting out so maybe it was an old one planted by the previous owner that I havent noticed the last 2 years since I bought this house? I'm honestly so confused lol. Also super disappointed I killed it. I planted the little top bit but im sure it'll just wilt and die in a couple days.
Peonies have a bulbous root mass that expands over time. They are not really bulbs, and they are pretty tough.
