straight up waiving doesn’t make any sense to me. at least keep him on the books as salary filler for a trade later on.

unless they mean waive and stretch to save money, i guess that’s kind of understandable. but then they lose roster flexibility.

If someone picks him up they get that cap relief.

they don't get cap relief. they may get reimbursed a little, but it doesn't come off the cap.
