Yeah I don't think I've ever heard of anyone arguing against that being the norm. I'm not. I live in the US.

What people expect from homeownership is different than what many get. Headaches and unexpected expenses. It's not cheap and it's not easy, in most cases. I thought it would be both and learned the hard way.
