Damn that's really clean. I wish I had my print settings that well tuned.
Haha, thanks. That makes me feel quite a bit better about my print quality. The bottom photo in my OP is intentionally in unflattering lighting, but when you see other people's prints it's hard to know whether or not they spent time positioning their prints in lighting, and messing with their camera angle, to reduce the number of visible flaws.
What setup, if any, have you done on your printer? I feel like I haven't done that much tuning on mine (e-steps, z-offset, super slicer temperature tower, Ellis' pressure advance) and I'm using something that's fairly close to the "stock" super slicer setup for a 350mm^3 2.4. If anything, I'm moving a bit faster and more aggressively than the stock profile (70 mm external, vs the original I think 30, 150% extrusion width etc).
Both of these photos are of the same surface, which is the worst surface on the print. It looks and feels more like the first photo, but you can really catch it in some unflattering lighting and make it look pretty rough. For everything else, I designed the part to be easy to print - fairly shallow overhang angles, a decent amount of bed surface area, etc.
