It’s less about quality now and more about them milking the same game for another $70 when a lot of players already paid $100 for last years edition (that was advertised as having a 2 year lifespan).
It’s absolutely great for casual FPS players because that’s what it’s catering to. It wants to be the game where you can sit down and get a few kills without too much effort. It’s awful for anyone far enough above average because the game specifically caters to lower skilled players.
For example, the nerfing of movement in the last few games has made the strategy of camping in a corner much more effective. If you’re pre-aiming a corner, an aggressive player is only going to make it out in maybe 1 out of 10 tries because the movement is so slow you aren’t able to react and ADS in time.
Another big thing is Zombies. Some of us primarily buy cod for zombies, and MW3 Zombies is an insult to the mode (as has every other zombies since BO3, with a minor, but not full, exception for BO4)
It’s a lot of people fed up with being sold the same game for full price every year with no improvements to the game and matchmaking that is often punishing to good players. Casual FPS fans are never going to have a problem with it, so it’ll keep selling every year
