Mabuhay at maligayang pag-alis sa Lemmy! βοΈ
An abandoned community for the Philippines and all things Filipino! π΅π
Started out as a Reddit alternative during the blackout from Jun 12-21, 2023 with over 1k members in just a few days. Fizzled faster than the "I Didn't Do It" kid after a month until it became the internet's Centralia in less than a year.

It's been slow for lemmy communities to form. Partly na rin siguro madami parin fence sitters sa reddit debacle up until July I suppose. Kaunti palang nasasalihan kong communities tho.
Pansin ko lang, nag nose dive na moderation sa rph. I don't know if it's just me but the posts are all over.
Sites like this has helped me greatly in checking out where my subscribed subreddits have gone to: https://sub.rehab/ I also find myself sometimes idly browsing

on the off chance that I'll discover some community I would like. And yeah, there might be a lot of fence sitters, but I think after the wave that's coming after the end of this month, things will quiet down. From then on, it's really up to us already here if Lemmy/Kbin will be a thing, or it'd just be a fad. Network effect is a hell of a drug, but if there ends up a stable and engaged population here, creating and consuming content, it's already a win in my book.
Hello, fellow all-browser.
Yeah, really interested how things will change by the end of the month. Pakiramdam ko nga ph irc days ulit at parang fresh nanaman ang community dito. Lmao
IRC!!! Parang mas magulo ata yung naging buhay ko nung nasa IRC pa ako eh. But then again, that cozy feeling kasi halos lahat kayo magkakakilala? Yeah!
Nung andun pa ako sa kabila, I never would have even dared think talking to other people in a thread like this. Di ko nga pinapansin yung Random Discussion threads dun eh.
Not wanting to toot my own horn but some of this is me, I think. I'm very unforgiving of low-effort posts that could be answered with just one reply. Tipong topics that belong in the Help Thread or already been asked/addressed several times before. Makukulong ka ba if hindi mo binayaran yung 800 pesos na balance sa PLDT or takbuhan mo Anytime Fitness membership. Best earphones for 200 pesos na goods na goods. IT o Accounting, ano kukunin ko na course? Innova o Avanza?
Karma farm or redundant threads bwisit rin kami. Yung mga "Ako lang ba naiinis sa utang na loob", "What's your favorite pancit canton?", "Toxic Filipino Culture", tinatanggal ko na lang without any explanation, lol.
The last month or so we were very consistent with this to the point na yung mga threads na otherwise matatabunan papunta sa third page, get a chance to shine. A good example was DENR planting the wrong Mangrove specie β it only had 11 replies on its first day and mushroomed to 195 in just a few days.
LMAO. I had to stop myself from flaming the Piattos flavor thread. If the mods really are quietly stepping away, I fully support it. We didn't get the chance to troll protest like the other cool subs. I guess this is my consolation.
r/philippines is no longer a valuable place for anything Philippines. Some PSAs, natatabunan na rin dahil sa mga bwisit na imported socmed dramas na wala naman tayo, mga Redditors, walang pake.
Karma points instigate how good or bad you are on Reddit, so kung negative karma ka, they'll proceed to call you as "troll" lol
Bruh...........................................
Yeah, r/ph is kinda shitty now. Sana ni-utilize nila yung other filipino subreddits instead of just lumping it in one place. There's AskPH, CasualPH, PHGaming etc. and if you like shitposting, there's 2philippines4u but because r/ph is the biggest filipino subreddit they flocked to it and posted there because where will they get their sweet, sweet karma? And then there's the screenshot posts. If screenshot ng news, sana man lang kahit dinagdag nila yung source instead na nagmamadali silang ipost para sa kuhhhrma. ππ
Just to add to this: us mods hate screenshot posts and editorialized titles because it makes it difficult to police duplicates and harms discussion.
Instead of just one thread from Philstar about (hypothetical lang) the onion cartel leader being arrested, you have three other threads. One is a link to a Twitter post by Philstar with the title "Unity pa more", the second is a screenshot of their post from FB titled "Thoughts?", and thirdly, the same link but with a slightly different headline. Then each thread has like 20 comments each that could have been collated into one.
Yung iba naman na kating kati mag-post, hindi nila masabi if may existing na ba kasi nga when they search for "onion cartels" hindi susulpot sa results yung tatlo because of the title... leading to more and more dupe threads.
One other thing about karma farming and why we're always on the lookout for it: people deliberately inflate it so they could sell the account. It is then used to astroturf or even more evil purposes like scamming in marketplaces. Sa r/thevisoria nga lang, we get those requests semi-regularly to the point I had to make a specific rule about it β pano pa kaya sa mga bigger classified ads subs?
Kaya sometimes may makakalusot na karma farm if it appears to be from a legit user. Annoying yes, but nothing nefarious per se. But someone na walang history sa r/PH at all, posting thread after thread after thread about "Anong kwentong commute mo" or "What is the best burger and why is it not Champ?" β we try to shut that shit down quickly.
Karma points are no different to YouTube's and Facebook's Internet points.
I'm still LMFAO when most kakampinks migrated from Facebook to Reddit, dahil "walang peknews at mindful" ang mga Redditor. Oh boy...
Yeah, bruh, those "points." Kung wala kang trillion Internet points, kawawa ka. lol
