A lot of us left reddit because it became too big-corpo'ey. Let's not let another big corpo into our space that we're building so that they can ruin it from the inside

Fantastic read. I was familiar with some of it but not all. 100% agreed to keep a profit-driven entity out of the fediverse.

If actual business management is needed as the fediverse grows for economic reasons, then we might consider a nonprofit with very specific terms. But even that is too much right now for me.

I completely agree. Fundamentally what for-profit corporations want and what we as users want do not mix IMO. Like oil and water, or two objects moving in opposite directions tied by a rope. The stronger one will most likely influence the weaker to move in the direction the stronger one desires. In such cases I believe corpos are the stronger object given their vast wealth, so if we let them into our sandbox we are agreeing that wealth is what will decide the outcome of this 'tug-of-war'. We are never winning that battle. So instead we simply shouldn't agree to the fact that wealth is the deciding factor. We cant beat their wallets so we have to use our brains to outsmart them. We have technology which seems to be able to do that - i.e. simply defederating them (not letting them in your sandbox).
