As much hate this movie got by a big part of the comic fans, this is still one of my favourite movies with Keanu. I'm so happy about the upcoming sequel.
They killed three of Constantine's greatest identifiers, his British accent, his bleached blonde sting hair, and his chain smoking. Aside from that it was a great movie, but it was like watching a Superman movie where Superman wears green, has red hair and hates America.
Wasn't that a plot point?
It was sort of, we never saw him smoking as he was "trying to quit", which was done because at the time smoking in movies had become a big no no. Constantine doesn't try to quit and smokes like a chimney, because he knows his fate is not to die by cancer.
I’m just gonna be here waiting on a live action adaptation of Superman: Red Son if any of you need me…
The closest is the Supergirl tv show's Red Daughter story arc sadly.
