What happened? I missed the race start
Went three wide with Max and Charles, turned as if they were not there, clipped Charles' tyre and was sent flying in the runoff. Too much damage.

Yeah he just said in an interview "I didn't want to be on the podium if it wasn't a win"
Yeah and a father who basically told him "fuck safety, fuck your life, this is for your country." Way to go dad!

Jesus wept. You'd think by now he'd know races aren't won on the first lap, or even the first sodding corner.
It was remarkably short sighted when he is in a tightening contest for 2nd place in the championship, and a DNF literally halved the gap to third position. He was never going to leave that corner in first place anyway, with Max ahead and on the inside line. A podium would have been a great result given his run of form.
Imagine Qatar, but replace Russell with Leclerc and Hamilton with Perez.
