I remember when you could hear birds chirping outside with the windows open. You member? I member!
Member when there used to be insects everywhere at night? The dozens of moths and beetles fluttering around every outdoor light and street lamp? Clinging to your fly screens and windows?
Anecdote time! I live next to corn fields and have all these things still.
But it's nowhere near what it used to be as a child growing up in a city.
I can only imagine what this property would have been like 20 years ago.
This year's firefly display was downright depressing.
