Some people really just can't contain themselves. I guess on the one hand, at least then you know who's a piece of shit and holds odious opinions so you can know not to spend your money there. On the other... Is it that hard to just keep your business operations separate from whatever whackdoodle political hobby horse you may have? This kind of thing is never beneficial to anyone's business, and they're always all Shocked Pikachu Face about it when it turns out that they're not the special ones who won't be bitten in the ass just like all the thousands of examples before them.
I run a business, too. Often I have customers come at me with unsolicited political opinions, usually dumbshit ones, vis-a-vis the crappiness of what's made in China nowadays, or how they shipped all our American jobs overseas, or how "Biden" ruined their retirement accounts, or how much they hate them damn dirty brown people, or how drag queens are ruining everything, or how everything they don't like wouldn't have happened under Trump, or whatever the flying fuck. Then they want my opinion.
My opinion is this: I don't give a fuck who anyone is or what color they are. I only care what color their money is. Please sign here. Next customer!
It used to be the norm for people to not mention what horrible backward-ass racist political opinions they had. Except for hillbillies. But anyway, all of the right wing are hillbillies now. Ignorant hicks. Proud, ignorant hicks. And the other ignorant hicks are loving the shit out of it. It's very popular.
But back in the day, you'd have a neighbor or teacher or whatever and you'd think they were fundamentally a decent person because they never said outrageously hateful shit right to your face all the fucking time.
Exciting times.
At least in the US, it used to be that they actively spouted their racist and sexist opinions and excluded people from their businesses for those reasons. Then we passed civil rights legislation and most stopped doing that and slowly stopped being as likely to do so in any populated area. Small towns didn't really stop, although they tried to hide it if they were worried about legal repercussions.
Yes, for the most part it was unlikely that someone would spout out their horrible views between the late 80s and early 2000s, but that was not a very long time.
These people are just better at being a loudmouth than they are a businessperson evidently.
I don't get it either considering it's your livelihood on the line but alas. The thing of it is- your vote counts all the same in the booth whether you put up a sign or if you just keep it all to yourself.
