I'm a sr. software engineer and you best believe I spam furry emotes at my coworkers. In my experience and in the companies I've worked at, most people who are even moderately talented operate with a relaxed attitude. As long as they get their deliverables done, don't worry about how they do it. If you've got a problem with them they'll take another offer in a week.
Edit: Also, I'd like to note that I think this behavior is healthy. People should be allowed to be themselves at work. I often joke about people putting on their "corporatesonas" at work.
I hate mine, it's going in the trash bit by bit. What a boring, miserable and insecure guy that was.
And look at you now! An adorable little hyena!
Aw, thank you, but
EDIT: Ah fuck, that wasn't meant to be innuendo
Hey, I’m not a size queen.
This is always how I’ve managed a team. If someone is asleep at the desk, rollerblading on the roof, but gets all their work done, I’m happy. If someone just looks busy all the time and is dressed nice, but constantly causes issues I’m a hot little potato.
It sucks because this is how it should be but all my leadership cares about is time tracking and metrics
The wrong metrics though, because lazy metrics with no thought put into them are easy!
We call em worksonas
Usually whatever the talented people push for in terms of benefits ends up helping all the coworkers cuz they'll get em too
