How do you discover new music?

I'll start us off:
I used to be pretty active on /r/RepublicOfMusic but I haven't had a reddit account in years.
Now I mostly discover new #music from my recommendations on SoundCloud.

  1. I have a few playlists that SoundCloud auto generates
  • Daily Drops - #newmusic based on my listening history
  • SoundCloud Weekly - weekly playlist based on my listening history
  • Mixed for Me - Based on something I liked or listen to recently
  • Feed - a list of new tracks or reposts from accounts I follow
  1. My YouTube Subscriptions

  2. Shazam - Shazaming whatever stream or video I'm watching for the background music. Also have the app on my phone for whatever cafe or restaurant is playing music IRL.

  3. Balamii - 24/7 Internet Radio - A London based music platform championing emerging & established artists from across the underground music community through radio, video and event production.

Where do you find your new music? Do you have a favorite blog or website you go to?

/r/republicofmusic info: "The Republic of Music is modeled after /r/music, but with a twist - only content created or published within the last three months will be allowed, and reposted or rehosted content is prohibited.

Audio, video, news, reviews, art, pretty much anything music-related is allowed in this subreddit as long as it is no more than three months old. For example, a review of a Beatles album published last week would be allowed, but a Beatles song itself would not.

For music videos, the published date of the video itself is what counts, not the published date of the song the video was made for (which may be released to the public many months before the video is even created)"

  • What do you think?
  • Do these rules make sense for a magazine here on the kbin and on the fediverse?
  • Is three months too fresh? Not fresh enough?
