From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).

Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I don't disagree with you either, please don't take my comment as an endorsement of Windows, just an acceptance that it's the dominant OS for a reason, even if that reason is full of issues in itself.

I don't mind Windows, but it's downright archaic and never getting any better.

Apologies if it came across as an attack. Rereading the thread I can see it may have. Rest assured what you see is my frustration at having to use Windows to work!

Not at all! It has been a perfectly civil discussion as far as I'm concerned 🙂
