This is a place to motivate each other to control or stop drinking. It is also a place for non drinkers to discuss and share.

We welcome anyone who wishes to join in by asking for advice, sharing our experiences and stories, or just encouraging someone who is trying to quit or cut down.

Please post only when sober; you’re welcome to read in the meanwhile.

We may be anonymous strangers on the internet, but we have one thing in common. We may be a world apart, but we’re here together!

Welcome to the 24 hour pledge! I’m pledging myself to not drinking today, and invite you to do the same.

Maybe you’re new to c/stopdrinking and have a hard time deciding what to do next. Maybe you’re like me and feel you need a daily commitment or maybe you’ve been sober for a long time and want to inspire others.

It doesn’t matter if you’re still hung over from a three day bender or been sober for years, if you just woke up or have already completed a sober day. For the next 24 hours, lets not drink alcohol!

Oh no! Hopefully that means that whenever you're able to crawl into bed tonight then it comes quickly!

I know I've been relying heavily on melatonin and ashwaganda lately.

I've read about ashwaganda. Never tried it though. Does it make you tired or just relaxed?

For me, it just hella relaxes me. If I take it when I'm tired, it's a game changer. Shuts my brain right down, even when it's trying to recall all the regrettable shit I've done. However, if I'm not already tired, I can just lay in bed all night fucking bored.

That being said, I read you're not supposed to take melatonin long term due to it being a naturally occurring hormone that your body will stop making if you supplement it too long, so I basically swap them out. Once I'm done with a jar of melatonin, I switch to ashwaganda. And vice versa.

Damn. I just ordered some! But I’m not gonna try it until the weekend cause now I’m worried I won’t wake up on time for work. Something to shut my brain down at night is welcomed.

Ooohhh I hope it works for you! I swear by it now tbh! You'll have to report back!

I'm starting my husband on it tonight too. He's working on his sobriety with me, and his sleep schedule still hasn't caught up yet. Pretty much has been tumbling into bed right after work, and then is up at like midnight and can't get back to sleep.

I'm making him stay up until 9/930 and then giving him some to chill him out.
