Can I start a new character without the DLC and then get it later and use the same pre-DLC character? (self.cyberpunk2077)

Basically the title. I don't have the DLC currently and started a new character with the 2.0 update. Just wondering if I would have to start another character to do the DLC if I do end up liking the base game.

There it is, sorry I thought that was the name. Just wanted you and any passers by to have the heads up that you can end up having to lose progress because of this by going too far which I thought was weird and should have been better communicated by them. Anyway, enjoy!
