I think that should pretty much be taken for granted. You don't start an international brouhaha over a hunch.

2003 Iraq WMD War starts to sweat

[–] [email protected] 8 points 1 year ago

Yeah, that was entirely the intent of ushering in a think tank's neoconservative military agenda. The Project for a New American Century (PNAC) had a list of signatories that included Wolfowitz, Rumsfeld, Jeb Bush, Gingrich, and Cheney; all determined to bring the United States into the 21st century prepared to fight micro-wars on several fronts.

Their manifesto (authored a few years prior to 9/11) referred to the fact they'd need "a Pearl Harbor type event" to usher in these changes to military organization and deployment to move away from "cold war thinking."

The attack in NYC gained them political favor to implement these changes, go after Iraq, Iran, and North Korea (hence the Axis of Evil), and let the events of Iraq Part II unfold. It was sickening watching it unfold, and people ate that WMD shit up like it they were hooked on meth.

Point taken. Though I doubt this will end in any kind of war.

screamiing idiots in India's mainstream news debate shows are demanding for India to nuke Canada.

[–] [email protected] 7 points 1 year ago (1 children)

Canada is part of NATO, so article 5 is automatic. Plus, looking at a map, the US would not appreciate radioactivity crossing its borders.

Russian media wants to nuke the US. India media wants to nuke Canada. I'm sure if we took them seriously they wouldn't like it.

The screaming, threats, and invective against Canada is being done to whip up hysterical support for Modi & his political party for the upcoming nationwide elections. Modi's policies & corruption have so wrecked India's economy, that he's desperate. And a desperate dictator with violent religious extremeists at his beck & call who alsso fear the secular and progressive opposition will say & do anything to gather public support.

No Indian will be surprised if they try to burn or bomb Canada's embassy and try to spin that to look like victims.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago (1 children)

So what you are saying is shutting down the Canadian embassy is the next logical step. Of course that means that India will close its embassy. We shall see.

[–] [email protected] 2 points 1 year ago* (last edited 1 year ago) (1 children)

No. I'm saying Canada should understand they're dealing with a desperate man who has never hesitated to use violence and
act accordingly. Please be safe, the majority of Indians do not want harm to come to you., Also, there are lots of Hindu supremacists in Canada who nurse fantasies of violence. Please keep a close watch on them. Because they're ticking time-bombs primed on religious extremeism and stories of barbarism.

This is why genocidal megalomaniacs should never be supported by any democratic nation.

I'm sure the RCMP and their friends to the south are up to speed on this.

I mean, the US invaded Iraq as revenge for 9/11.

The WMD lies were just to convince anyone on the fence to support the war. A lot of people didn't need that excuse.

[–] lateraltwo 3 points 1 year ago

It wasn't even revenge for 9/11; it was Kuwait pt2 using a hurt, confused, and easily misled public to invade Iraq. Saudi Arabia committed 9/11 but they were rich and had oil money that could buy them 3000 dead Americans and a white house

[–] [email protected] 2 points 11 months ago (1 children)

No, it was vengeance.

Ever notice how oil prices shot up during the invasion, and only went down when the United States invested in fracking?

[–] blazeknave 1 points 11 months ago

Don't know the data well enough, will take your word for it. But decoupling from the pretense, not reality, it was oil.

[–] [email protected] 21 points 1 year ago (1 children)

I agree. I posted for all the commenters who think Trudeau's doing this as an election stunt.

[–] [email protected] 16 points 1 year ago

US intelligence agencies confirmed it and the government condemned it. Believe me, the US does not want geopolitical problems with India right now. Conspiracy theories seem to be the primary vehicle for political BS these days.

[–] [email protected] 4 points 1 year ago

Especially when your country is 5% Indian-Canadian; that's a lot of voters to enrage.

Imho this only happened because of the CSIS leaks like the one about MP Chong's family being targeted in China. Trudeau probably figured this story would be better from him than from the press - keeping the geopolitical dirty laundry out of the public view was never an option because of the leaker.
