I mean, the US invaded Iraq as revenge for 9/11.

The WMD lies were just to convince anyone on the fence to support the war. A lot of people didn't need that excuse.

It wasn't even revenge for 9/11; it was Kuwait pt2 using a hurt, confused, and easily misled public to invade Iraq. Saudi Arabia committed 9/11 but they were rich and had oil money that could buy them 3000 dead Americans and a white house

Ever notice how oil prices shot up during the invasion, and only went down when the United States invested in fracking?

Don't know the data well enough, will take your word for it. But decoupling from the pretense, not reality, it was oil.
