Morrowind has a special place in my heart. But it seems rather dead here.

There is one single piece of advice I give everyone. Keep your stamina (fatigue/green) bar up, at LEAST 50%. If the worms are hard to hit with a weapon, that's probably why.

Other than that, sometimes you're just not ready. That's supposed to be the takeaway from the cave. Go forage some plants (fungi on trees, tall plants in bogs, flowers) and trade them for armor and weapons you have skills in.
