Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

Well that's pretty bad. I just switched to hyprland and like it, but I don't want to give those people a bigger platform than what they already have... Ah shit I'll have to think about that. Why can't we have nice things that aren't made by complete assholes.
Lots of nice things aren't made by assholes.
PulseAudio comes to mind. As much as people like to shit on Poettering, he made a very useful piece of software that many users didn't have to fiddle with when first getting into Linux.
Also, you can use useful things made by bad people. "This is a great piece of software, but the creator is a dick" is a completely fair and rational take to have.
I feel like not using the useful thing is giving the bad person more power over you than they should have.
