I mean you don't even have to know the bible very well to know of this story, right? Isn't it one of the most famous in the old testament?

You are right, it is widely known by pretty much everyone who grew up in a christian dominated society.

That is partly the point. The bigot is cherry picking a verse or two that proves and justifies her bigotry and does not expect to be questioned on it. Once her bullshit is revealed, she does not want to discuss the issue anymore.
