Oh settle the fuck down. The Rings of Power was fine.

Better than the hobbit, for whatever that is worth

You know? I've watched a fan edited version of the Hobbit without all the elf-lover/sidequest scenes. Is way shorter but quite good to watch actually.

Most of The Hobbit's issues stemmed from it's length. I'd love to watch a 3hr Hobbit, rather than an 8 or 9 hr "trilogy"

You can. There are many great fan-edit version. Ravenomics version (2 movies around 4 and half hours ) is one quite good, but there are many others to check out. It is no secret that they added a lot of extras and invented the whole (non-canonical) love story between Elves and Dwarves just to stretch enough content to have trilogy, so in this case cutting those parts out helps to have a pretty good (and faithful) movie.

Thank you. I'll have to check them out!

I really hope this isn't another community that is obsessed with the Peter Jackson Lord of the Rings movies and feel like any other media is crappy sequel to them

I think a lot of people say they are lotr fans, when they actually mean they are Peter Jackson's lotr fans.

Not that a problem, but I want Silmarillion memes too.

Yeah it gets really frustrating, like yeah, he did a good job with lotr but there is so much more to Tolkiens universe than one directors interpretation of a singular event in the gigantic history of middle earth.

I've read both LotR and the Hobbit, so at least i can say i know the original source.
