It was awesome watching Ghost and the X wings jump. Major nerd-on.
I wasn't sold on them getting messed up by the jump of the giant hyper drive ring, there'd be nothing to cause the ripple/shock wave being in a vacuum.
However, any space nerds or physicists out there want to explain I'm all eyes.
Ripples in space time as they made the jump to …you know what, {waves hand} it makes perfect sense. Don’t ask questions.
(But really, I’m glad I’m not the only one to feel out, lol. The only thing that could have made it better? Sanibe’s tie showing up. The, one with the , uh, not-regulation paint)
The Star Wars galaxy isn’t a vacuum because sound travels through it in space battles, so shockwave stuff would affect ships with this jump!
Oh damn. So is it that there is just very little oxygen in it because they still need suits?
Current actual scientific thinking as I understand it is that light speed travel is theoretically possible with a large enough source of power. Space would be warped in a bubble surrounding the ship in such a scenario.
In Star Wars, they're traveling through "hyperspace" and moving at light speed (or faster). I can accept that space would be disturbed or some energy waves of high power would be left in the wake of such a large ship.
Oooh, good point RE the bubble. I like it.
