A great many more people were staying indoors and avoiding contact even with close family - as the rules required. Also, many people who broke the rules were fined when they were found out, in fact some people were fined even when they were following the letter of the rules, eg when outside exercising while still socially distanced.

It is absolutely appalling that the party behind making the rules would flout the rules so openly, and that the police would give them a free pass over it. Hell, even BoJo was only fined for his birthday party (the event people would be most likely to sympathise with him over), when each of his other breaches were equally as bad if not worse.

Some of the fines were also excessive. People found to have hosted gatherings larger than 30 people during lockdown were hit with £10,000 fines.

"Rules for thee but not for me" is a beyond-shitty way to govern this country.
