If they assemble and then completely disassemble the DIY version of the laptop why does it cost less to buy if it requires extra labour?

I wondered the same. I imagine when they finish designing the process it will actually be cheaper to manufacture.

This makes a lot of sense. Seems like they're putting the cart before the horse here, but its probably something something "we wanted to build the culture/experience before we built the processes"
