This is the place for discussing the potential collapse of modern civilization and the environment.
Collapse, in this context, refers to the significant loss of an established level or complexity towards a much simpler state. It can occur differently within many areas, orderly or chaotically, and be willing or unwilling. It does not necessarily imply human extinction or a singular, global event. Although, the longer the duration, the more it resembles a ‘decline’ instead of collapse.

Crazy lady on my nextdoor app is obsessed with making sure nothing catches fire. She recommends that instead of cutting grass on the side of the highways during droughts (for sparks from the lawnmower may cause a fire), they spray fire retardant chemicals on the side of the road. Completely oblivious as to how horrible these chemicals are for people and the environment, esp when actually exposed to fire.
Fire retardant is in so many things, like furnature, electronics, and general building materials. Contact with this stuff is thought to cause cancer, as well as, endocrine, metabolic, and reproductive harm, to name a few.
Just another example of chemical manufacturers poisoning us and getting away with it.
