It's funny on its own, but why did Captain Oveur's questions take such a sudden turn to the inappropriate?

It was…let's say…a different time. Quite a lot of inappropriate jokes in that movie. Still hilarious, but, the implications…

Consider this is a movie that has a 10 y.o. girl use “I like to take my coffee black, like my men” as the punchline of another joke that has two kids flirting like adults.
