I will come back to this post in September to see if I was right lol

Biggest concerning signs:

  1. 30 FPS lock on xbox, there's no way to spin that positively, absolute fail

  2. Predatory pre-order bonus skins to get people to buy before they know what they're actually going to experience (buggy shitshow)

  3. Countless attempts to hype up the game and huge random assurances from the devs

  4. Preemptively admitting the game has jank and trying to make it seem okay lol

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/us/starfield-has-that-bethesda-rpg-jank-and-i-couldnt-be-happier/ar-AA1cGkxv

At least the bugs will be absolutely hilarious I think.

Do not pre-order games.

Do not buy AAA games at launch, especially Bethesda games.

Preordering is dumb for digital releases.

Used to be that you might not get the game for quite a while if you didn't pre-order. Not sure if that's still the case with physical.

It's better to wait than to get scammed.

I'm not arguing that it's not better to wait, just saying that there used to be a reason for it.

Well it was -20% on greenmangaming lately, -15% now. I can see a point there at least 😄

No need to preorder/buy it, since the game will be on gamepass on release.

What point is there to not try the game for 10€ for a month? You can cancel it anytime.

If it's shit, you still have a huge library of big name games you can play. You can also get gamepass keys for much cheaper on ebay or key resellers but there you might get scammed. Also if you have friends with gamepass ultimate, they can give you free 14 day trial keys.

If the game turns out great, you can still just buy it later on sale

I don't like gamepass because it requires me to install games through the Microsoft store. I'd rather buy them from anywhere else or pirate them.

i can respect that, I myself avoid blizzard, riot, EA and Ubisoft and only install stuff if forced by friends for coop.

The games themselves though install through the xbox app and not directly from the shitty Microsoft store. In the end it all runs through the same service probably, but the xbox app is at least a better user experience.

My point was simply that people can avoid throwing money on shitty games like redfall if they just try it out on gamepass instead.

It's the same service wearing a different costume. They sometimes install multiple copies of themselves, for example, the Fallout games will install a copy of the game for each language they support with no option to only install the language you want. Attempting to install mods in most games will cause it to reinstall the entire game, preventing the use of mods. Sometimes when you uninstall them, it doesn't actually delete the files so it continues to use space on your drives until you reformat or use third party programs to remove them.

In my opinion, it's an absolutely terrible way to install games, even if the value is good.
