"In terms of competition" there are 19 other people out there doing interesting things.
I know, they are all struggling and sometimes doing better and sometimes doing worse. But it’s a bit depressing to know that NONE of them has even the slightest chance to beat Verstappen / RedBull (sorry to all RB fans our there). I still do watch it most of the time, and sometimes it is quite interesting, but knowing in advance who will almost certainly win does some damage to a sports event IMHO.
I was watching F1 at periods in the 90s and the early 2000s (Mika Hakkinen), then got bored during Schumachers dominance and came back in 2019/2020. 2021 was a good season with a lot of tension and exciting until the - in my opinion bitter - end. For me, but that’s just my personal opinion, it would be far more interesting, if two or more teams would compete for the world champion title, but this kind of competition does not exist currently, not even for the constructor’s title. The only competition remaining is that for P2, P3 and onwards.
