When consciousness is understood well enough it will be replicated in AI (artificial intelligence).
The Blue Ocean Event will happen long before that, I don't think we have much to worry about from ai gaining consciousness.
Blue Ocean Event is Arctic_sea_ice_decline at Wikipedia ...
it's a good thing that we fear bad things of the future so we can fight to avoid them. Then maybe we can have (somewhat) good artificial consciousness.
Another 5 years as hot as this one and we will have no polar ice caps left.
The Blue Ocean Event is imminent.
Unless someone invents time travel and returns to the 1800's to stop the industrial revolution harnessing fossil fuels, we're going extinct.
Don't Look Up and keep recycling tho, you're doing great!
Our universe forbids time travel which, in this case, is tragic & a failure of consciousness.
Nah, humanity is getting what it deserves.
If anything it's ironically altruistic that we're removing ourselves from the universe like this.
The absolute majority of people on this planet have almost no impact on carbon emissions and even under those that do have an impact, there is an incredibly strong disparity. Its not "humanity" doing this, vasts amounts of humanity have zero influence on it.
How exactly is this relevant?
