A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

Rules

The rules may be more established as time goes on, but it's important to have a foundation to work on.

1. Follow the rules of Lemmy.world - These rules are the same as Mastodon.world's rules, which can be found here.

2. Include a community title and description in your post title. - A following example of this would be New Communities - A place to post new communities all over Lemmy for discovery and promotion.

3. Follow the formatting. - The formatting as included below is important for people getting universal links across Lemmy as easily as possible.

Formatting

Please include this following format in your post:

[link text](/c/[email protected])

This provides a link that should work across instances, but in some cases it won't

You should also include either:

[email protected]

or instance.com/c/community

FAQ:

Q: Why do I get a 404?

A: At least one user in an instance needs to search for a community before it gets fetched. Searching for the community will bring it into the instance and it will fetch a few of the most recent posts without comments. If a user is subscribed to a community, then all of the future posts and interactions are now in-sync.

Q: When I try to create a post, the circle just spins forever. Why is that?

A: This is a current known issue with large communities. Sometimes it does get posted, but just continues spinning, but sometimes it doesn't get posted and continues spinning. If it doesn't actually get posted, the best thing to do is try later. However, only some people seem to be having this problem at the moment.

MODERATORS

Welcome to worldbuilding your one-stop shop for all your fictional worlds. Whether it's for a D&D campaign, book you're writing, or a favorite hobby, if you're worldbuilding you're welcome here.

We're technically three years old as a community. However, we recently completely changed our moderation team and have begun to flourish. So, we're new in spirit.

As you can see, lemmy.ml/c/[email protected] is a lemmy.ml community, so we're experiencing some federation issues with all the posts being visible between the home instance and lemmy.world . However, I believe those issues will soon be resolved and we can continue business as usual.

Come check us out :)

I'd love to join a community like that, but I'm getting a 404 when I follow that link. I also couldn't find it when searching on lemmy. Any advice would be appreciated!

You're not alone, it's some sort of issue that's been happening the last couple days due to federation issues between lemmy.world and lemmy.ml

I’m getting a 404 when I follow that link

You may be able to view the community directly by going to https://lemmy.ml/c/[email protected] or you can view what lemmy.world has logged so far at https://lemmy.world/c/[email protected]

I also couldn’t find it when searching on lemmy

What might help is copying the direct link ^ and pasting it into your community search bar on your home instance. It may or may not say "no results," but if you do a regular search for the community afterward it should help.

Thank you for your patience!

Edit: I think I fixed it? apparently I have to include @lemmy.ml at the end or it gives a 404 error
