Windows Update has been able to download drivers for several years now.

It mostly works ok, but sometimes it's really stupid and overwrites more current drivers with older ones, because the current ones aren't on Microsofts servers...

According to the Windows AMD GPU users, it's a bit too effective at downloading them.

Disclaimer: I don't run Windows much, so I have to go with what I see online.

Nah, they are usually hidden under optional updates though.

On the Microsoft Surface laptops, the entire driver update system is through Microsoft Update.
