Leftist Infighting: A community dedicated to allowing leftists to vent their frustrations

The purpose of this community is sort of a "work out your frustrations by letting it all out" where different leftist tendencies can vent their frustrations with one another and more assertively and directly challenge one another. Hostility is allowed, but any racist, fascist, or reactionary crap wont be tolerated, nor will explicit threats.

I'm astonished at how sensitive the mods must be over there.

Apparently you're allowed to say whatever baseless slander you like about the eeeeevil tankies but the minute someone says "Hold up a sec, you claim to be anti-authoritarian and yet you support authoritarianism either explicitly or implicitly?" and they have to shut it down immediately.

Regardless, I think I made a pretty solid counterargument to the typical complaint about communism being authoritarian.

Mfers skim read the Wikipedia entry on Hannah Arendt and start thinking they're justified in slinging accusations about "muh authoritarianism" smh.

killing enough people so there's enough to go around

You see stupid tankie, material wealth is just a big limited pile of stuff that is just there to take, so less people = more for everyone, easy! ๐Ÿคก

Libs:

"Chiner killed a bunch of its own people and that's how they lifted themselves out of extreme poverty!!"

Also libs:

"Chiner is sitting on a demographic timebomb [which is false, btw] which will cause their population to crash and it will tank their economy!!"

So, those aren't really points that contradict each other at all. I wrote a research paper in college about demographic distributions and their effects on economic conditions in developed economies. The data we have shows that a aging population without a corresponding number of active younger workers always causes some systemic issues. It's not about the people dieing it's about the distribution of the population. In the famines and deaths during China's rise the people who died the most were the more vulnerable/less productive members of the society/economy. Which objectively likely helped the economy. The less productive members of an economy (the elderly) outnumbering the more productive younger members is never going to be a positive.

Look at what's going on in Japan. The shrinking population and aging demographics have followed some logical and predictable patterns. The youth have moved to the cities where the jobs are. As people are reliant on savings and pensions as a larger slice of the economies spending goes down and the economy shrinks. The rural areas of the country are in severe decline. You can literally get a free house far enough outside of the major cities. China is primed for this to happen in a much larger way from all statistics.

As someone with a graduate degree in economics who supports more of a socialist or communist policy shift worldwide, these bullshit arguments that snub all available data annoy the hell out of me. There's plenty of rational arguments and data to support communist/socialist ideas. You don't need to argue with established economic theory and data.
