Looks like it might be a Russula.

Possibly. Or an Amanita, or a whole range of other things... very hard to tell with just this one picture.

(My very uninformed, stab-in-the-dark guess would be Amanita vaginata actually.)

Don't think it's an amanita because it doesn't have spots on the cap (which I believe is one of the ways to distinguish). Could be wrong though.

Look up Orange Grisette or Tawny Grisette. Both amanitas, neither have spots.
