Hello everybody, I am looking at getting a bigger flashlight. I have some Hanks and FireFlies, with my biggest lights being a DM11 and D4Sv2. However, I have been wanting a longer flashlight. Something like the old Maglites. I used to have one as a kid that was red and could take like 4 D cells. I'm feeling oddly nostalgic for a light in that body type.

I saw the Convoy L7 and the L8 as flashlights that look close to what I used to have. Something with a multicell host, but it's not a deal breaker if it doesn't have it.

Any suggestions?

You might like the Sofirn SP36 which was on sale last month. It looks like the sale ended and it's a few bucks more now, but still pretty good:

If you want something insane, you could try web search for Ultimate Stealth Light on CPF. It is a Maglight 3D body modified to house a hand built NiMH pack and a 100 watt slide projector bulb. It's "stealth" because it's designed to look like an ordinary Maglight until you turn it on.

Visible light emitted is around 3K lumens but since it is incandescent, there is also a tremendous amount of infrared emitted, so there are photos on CPF of people literally frying eggs on the lens. Turning it on produces a much greater sensation of brightness than a LED light with the same lumens would produce. I'd probably be willing to part with mine, but would have to check that the battery pack hasn't crapped out, as I haven't used it in years.

I've seen the SP36 around. It looks like a good light. I was more looking for a single emitter light.

That stealth light seems amazing!
