Linux is a family of open source Unix-like operating systems based on the Linux kernel, an operating system kernel first released on September 17, 1991 by Linus Torvalds. Linux is typically packaged in a Linux distribution (or distro for short).
Distributions include the Linux kernel and supporting system software and libraries, many of which are provided by the GNU Project. Many Linux distributions use the word "Linux" in their name, but the Free Software Foundation uses the name GNU/Linux to emphasize the importance of GNU software, causing some controversy.

I'm interested in writing a fediverse app for tracking and sharing outdoor activity data, like all trails or Strava, using openstreetmap, and I'd need a lot of help with designs for both a tool for drawing and updating trails (for maintainers of a server) as well as an end-user facing app for tracking and sharing activities. I'm planning on applying for a grant to do the development, and drawings go a long way towards getting grants. Lemme know if you're interested, and we can spin up a Matrix server (I think that's the fediverse discord) to talk about it informally.
edit: I wrote a few words about what I'm thinking: https://dougs-digital-garden.netlify.app/notes/trailsapp/
@CombatWombatEsq Sure thing! I'm new to the fediverse and just learned about matrix a couple of hours ago, so please let me know how to proceed.
Me too! I tried my hand at creating a Matrix room that anyone that is interested can join: https://matrix.to/#/#trailsapp:matrix.org . Let yourself in and we can come up with how we want to proceed together!
@CombatWombatEsq joined :)
