I made good progress with the Greenhouse of oddities SAL 3rd planting. Only one shade of green left, as well as the backstitch, before moving on to the 4th planting.

Also I felt compelled to post a pic of my needle after about 3 weeks of work. this set came as a compliment from Cross-stitch corner but same happens with the cheapo needles included in the kits. More "premium" needles (at 20-30¢ a piece) seem to oxidize as well but much slower!

I just recently posted about my needle turning black after a few weeks of use! I'm still using it because I can't bring myself to throw it away and use another one until it's completely unusable lol

That's what prompted me to post mine. I did an experiment last night, soaking it in vinegar. It made it even darker and the oxidation seems to have spread...so I had to toss it. Sadly it was beginning to mess with my stitches because of the friction the dark layer had caused.

I did notice tonight that it is getting more difficult to finish pulling the needle under the previous stitches. I may have to retire this needle soon. It's almost entirely black now lol

I may just bite the bullet and pay for the gold needles once I use all of these up
