Hello brains trust, I’m seeking appliance advice.
Thinking of getting a split system for heating/cooling as gas heating costs are nuts and we also don’t have aircon, so combining the two seems like a good idea.
Could anyone suggest brands to check out or avoid, please?
So far, I’ve heard Mitsubishi and Panasonic are good, but am a bit unsure about where to start
Apparently there's a difference between Mitsubishi heavy industy and Mitsubishi electric. You want the former.
Mitsubishi Electric are still decent. Mine is around 10 years old and I let it get dirty and never serviced it. It was full of cat fur and mould. I paid someone to do a full clean and now it works like new.
How much did you pay for the cleaning?
$130. It was gross and spitting out black fluffy stuff and the dude used cleaning spray and a pressure water spray to clean out all the crap between the metal fins. The crap that came out from flushing it was like a water cooler bottle size that was black and less transparent than coke. Money well spent.
It also runs way better now and probably saving me a crapload on electricity. Before on 26c full blast hardly heated and now on 22c one fan bar it’s warm as fuck. I guess the fins inside the system don’t work if they are clogged with mould/cat fur which seems like common sense now I think about it.
Thank you :)
