I haven't used my dishwasher or dryer since I moved in to my trailer. Hand washing dishes and hanging clothes to dry doesn't take long enough for me to give a shit lol

You must not have a wife that uses every single dish and utensil in arms reach when she cooks lol

I cook and washing utensils isn't hard?

[โ€“] [email protected] 2 points 2 years ago

It's not, when I cook I tend to wash as I go and I also am mindful about using things as to not create excess work for myself. When my wife cooks, the kitchen looks like a restaurant after a dinner rush and that's when a dishwasher comes in clutch.

But running a dishwasher (if you already have one and use powder and not tabs) is much cheaper in water heating costs than washing by hand.

I think that's only true if you're actually filling the dish washer with dirty dishes. It would take me long enough to fill my dish washer that it would start to stink.

Yeah I live by myself and during the week only cook dinner plus snacks, so it takes me 3+ days to fill it up enough to justify running it and even then it starts it getโ€ฆiffy.

When I was living alone I had something that was called "table dishwasher". It was a little thing with only one drawer and I filled it roughly every 1-2 days.

An average (read large) dishwasher consumes ~12l of water per cycle. That's equivalent to letting the tap run for ~30 seconds.

A good dishwasher uses ~0.6kwh/cycle. That's equivalent to ~10l of hot water. Again, ~30 seconds of tap water.

Tbh I don't think I run the faucet for 30 seconds to wash dishes for the day. It's basically just cutting board, knife, a plate, and a bottle. 10 seconds max

I'll remember that on the rare occasions I cook up food for lots of people, though. That's definitely more than 30 seconds!

There are other, more convenient solutions besides a washboard: https://www.amazon.com/manual-washing-machine/s?k=manual+washing+machine
