A community to satirize conservtive and right-wing "ideals".

This community (now) exists as a pressure valve, a place to process through humor the often frustrating world of conservative politics. Above all, this is NOT the place for serious conservative support/viewpoints/arguments. There are other places on Lemmy for that if you desire it.

Rules:

  1. Always follow .world instance rules

  2. Parody With Purpose: This is a space for humorous takes on conservative politics. We welcome satire, but draw the line at content that promotes racism, sexism, homophobia, or other forms of bigotry.

  3. Memes Over Manifestos: This community focuses on humor and parody, not serious political debate. There are plenty of spaces for earnest conservative discussion, this isn’t one of them.

  4. Highlight Contradictions: Sometimes the best content points out inconsistencies and hypocrisies in conservative talking points. Creative commentary is encouraged.

  5. Public Figures Fair Game: Politicians and pundits can be satirized, but no targeting of private individuals, doxxing, or harassment.

Children of public figures under the age of 14 are also off-limits, a 16 year old has enough free agency to break with or adopt their parents views. An 8 year old kid doesn't.

  1. No News Zone: Memes only, news or other serious content should be sent to the nearest relevant comm. Meme's of current events, however, are encouraged.

  2. Clear Satire: Make your satirical intent reasonably clear. We’re here to mock bad ideas, not accidentally spread them. If you're unsure how it will be taken, feel free to DM the mod team ahead of time or explicitly tag it as satire in the body.

A note on ChadMcTruth: Chad's content is 100% satire, but his work can sometimes be hard to tell, but if he posted it be assured, its satire.

  1. Relevant Content: All posts should relate to conservative politics or ideologies in some way somewhere in your post. Either in the title or the meme itself.

For more general political memes please see [email protected]

  1. Community Respect: Disagree with fellow members all you want, but personal attacks aren’t welcome. Save the criticism for the ideas, not each other.

  2. Moderation Discretion: Mods will use reasonable judgment in applying these rules. We’ll be fair, but firm. These kinds of comms have a tendency to get off the rails, so we might seem overzealous in moderation sometimes.

  3. For the moment, i'm allowing properly tagged NSFW content as long as its funny and relevant. Don't make me regret it.

And above all, HAVE FUN!

MODERATORS

Taking a look at what gets upvoted and what is downvoted to oblivion, it's quite clear what the community at large wants.

We don't want [email protected] to be just another "serious conservative comm" any longer, they have whole instances dedicated to their kind of "free speech" and other comms as well.

So to that end I have thrown my hat in the ring to be mod and steer this comm to be what people want it to be so show your support at https://lemmy.world/post/25837943

I have also typed out a proposed draft set of rules to keep things from "going off the rails":

  1. Parody With Purpose: This is a space for humorous takes on conservative politics. We welcome satire, but draw the line at content that promotes racism, sexism, homophobia, or other forms of bigotry.
  1. Memes Over Manifestos: This community focuses on humor and parody, not serious political debate. There are plenty of spaces for earnest conservative discussion—this isn't one of them.

  1. Public Figures Fair Game: Politicians and pundits can be satirized, but no targeting of private individuals, doxxing, or harassment.

  1. Moderation Discretion: Mods will use reasonable judgment in applying these rules. We'll be fair, but firm.
  1. Remember The Purpose: This community exists as a pressure valve—a place to process through humor the often frustrating world of conservative politics.

I still think conservatives deserve a place on Lemmy and in Lemmy.world where incivility and misinformation can be properly moderated.

The pervious mods of the conservative communities have proven they can’t be fair and unbiased.

If you look at their hilariouschaos community you can see they are still heavy-handed and thin-skinned more apt to moderate based on feelings than fact.

I’m still volunteering to run this and/or lemm.ee’s community as a proper conservative community.

The problem is I don’t think the userbase does. Since the community was created, content was downvoted and negative conversations took place within it.

The TOS clearly states “Lemmy.World specifically forbids any sort of discrimination against queer groups on this site” yet Conservative political policy does appear to be discriminating against queer groups thus a Conservative community is, per TOS, not allowed to discuss and support their own party’s policies.

I agree with you in sentiment, SatansMaggotyCumFart, that this instance should be accepting and welcoming of political discussion with those of opposing views.

That said, current opposing views go strongly against the views upon which this instance was founded.

For that reason, and it seems clear the userbase also agrees, I believe it would be in the interest of this instance to repurpose this community into one where Conservatism can be discussed through the perspective of the userbase we have. And that seems to be memes that critique conservatism.

I agree with fartsparkles who agrees with SatansMaggotyCumFart

edit, that was a joke for the names but I kinda disagree ...ish. I don't think actual conservatives that come in good faith really exist
It would have like 2 people that post stuff that gets tons of downvotes, like every conservative sub on Lemmy so far. I don't see how it would be any different to what has already been tried 🤷‍♀️
