nah the patch notes were pretty similar to PoE patch notes. identify mechanical issues with the game and attempt to solve them with numerical nerfs. dont add anything new or fun, dont increase build variety, dont actually solve any of the identified issues, just make everyone's gameplay feel worse
the only difference is that PoE is actually a good and fully developed game, D4 is not
PoE eventually became a decent if deeply flawed game. Definitely wasn't like that in the beginning though.
Except they didn’t. Even more than before, you need vulnerable and crit on everything to compensate because they are in different buckets.
They lowered the build variety.
Lowering numbers doesn’t fix anything here, it’s the formula itself which need to be changed. Or they could put diminishing returns so people would use vulnerable / crit until they hit those caps and use other stats for the rest.
Right now, the only thing they achieves is lowering dps for every single build.
Fwiw im level 89 crackling energy sorc. Easily one of the worst subclasses available but i stuck with it because its fun, i enjoy the challenge, and im a stubborn bastard. I had no vulnerable on my build at all. The crit nerfs alone reduced my damage more than the other buffs. I even use 2 of the lightning specific buffed aspects. Combined with survivability nerfs, i can no longer complete the dungeons i could before.
I appreciate their attempts to increase viable variety. But the nerfs to the OP meta builds leaked onto the already struggling variety builds.
Found the only other dumbass on this website who plays crackling energy sorc. I loved it after the defense nerfs when mobs can now one shot me from offscreen if I'm not careful.
However, from what I could tell, my build got a major damage upgrade from the patch so it seems like our experiences are different.
I was really hoping they'd make crackling energy viable. Not surprised this shitshow of a patch made it worse.
Looks like you understand the concept of multiplication about as much as the game designers do
