Yet another reason why EVs and hybrids are better: Regenerative braking.

I had my Prius for 17 years and in that time I replaced my brake pads once... Because they expired (LOL). At in, they just got so old that they started to become brittle.

Still had about 1/3rd of their material remaining.

I'm curious how many miles that car was driven over the 17 years? Standard ICE cars usually get 30k miles on a set of front pads.

I changed the pads at around ~120,000 miles and sold the car not too long after that at ~130,000 miles.
