This is a community for discussion, news, and memes pertaining to the video game sub-genre "soulslike".

Given Lemmy's size, the definition of soulslike may be treated relatively loosely. While games like the numerous FromSoft titles, the recent Star Wars Jedi games, Lies of P, Nioh and similar games should be the focus, games that incorporate soulslike elements - like Hollow Knight and Blasphemous, for example - may also be discussed here.

Anything new you're picking up? A comfort game you want to start another playthrough of? Any challenging bosses?

I just got to Fountainhead Palace in Sekiro after a long session with Owl Father which I'm looking forward to. And hopefully my copy of Lies of P will be getting here today or tomorrow which I'll likely start another playthrough of.

Also, would you guys like this to be a weekly thing to ask on Fridays? We currently don't have any reoccurring meta posts here - maybe this would be a good start and a conversation starter.

Here's somethings I found along the way you may or may not find helpful:

Phase 1:

Once you get the dodge timing for his spinning missile dive, it leaves a perfect windows for a jumbo DLC rot pot which usually triggers rot immediately (depends on your arcane and if multi-player I think).
When he does the blood flame sword attack, just circle behind him while walking (if you're already in melee range)

Phase 2:

The timing is tight, but if you dodge the thousand-year-voyage-hug responsively enough it leaves another window for a pot. I prefer frost pots in phase 2.
If you're just gonna block the orbital lasers you have enough time to throw another frost pot if you're already in range.
The meter strike is the most volatile aspect of the fight, I learned to save my wondrous physick for this moment to ensure I survive. If you went rot in phase 1 and frost in phase 2, switching back to rot after this attack helps burn him down.
