I really hate going on Reddit and the only reason I do is to skim the latest arsenal news off r/Gunners. I know that this place is supposed to do something different, but I'm starting to see the use in a mirroring bot. Curious to see what other people think.
I agree. I avoid it as much as possible. The only time I go there there now is when I'm unable to watch a match live and we just scored a goal and I really want to see it. And even then I usually go to r/soccer first.
I feel like this community is perfect. A group for of between a dozen and two dozen very active regulars, who are fun to chat with and aren't obnoxious knob heads; good quality posts (very limited or zero low-quality memes); and good moderation that walks the line really well between keeping things easy going and not being over the top.
Pretty much every gooner community I've been involved with aside from this one has been flooded by argumentative elitists who are more interested in shitting on fellow gooners than in having interesting discussions.
"good moderation" aka basically not doing anything and having everyone just behave by themselves because this group is smol XD (I do appreciate the compliment!)
Hey, I've seen moderators massively screw up smaller communities than this! 😆
Let's just say I've had experience managing online communities with much more problems than this. :p
Haha, me too. 🤝
Personally I'm pretty hard against it, if you want the stuff that's there, well, that's the whole point of them existing. I don't think it's meaningful to just take everything they post. If we were to want to do something like that, I'd prefer if we had a spinoff community that specifically mirrors reddit.
As in use a mirroring bot here from r/gunners?
If so, I guess I'm not against it, but I have no desire to visit reddit or follow any links that redirect there.
Likewise, I'd like to cut that cancer out entirely (same as X).
