Summary

Ontario Premier Doug Ford announced he is canceling a $100M contract with Elon Musk’s Starlink and banning U.S. firms from provincial contracts in retaliation for Donald Trump’s tariffs on Canada.

Ford warned that American companies could lose “tens of billions” in revenues.

Canada and Mexico have imposed counter-tariffs, while Ontario also plans to remove American liquor brands from stores.

Trump responded by suggesting Canada should become the U.S.’s 51st state to avoid tariffs, arguing Canada’s trade surplus makes it economically dependent on the U.S.

A noble act and good luck to it but I doubt these few water weak men trying to take over the world will even notice.

musk, at the height of his popularity, made it a significant part of his life to insist that a hero who rescued people trapped in a cave was a pedophile because they turned down his robot that wouldn't even fit in the tunnels.

This is the kind of shit that he does notice. And it destroys him.

Correction: it wasn’t a robot. It was just a stupid steel tube.

It's wild that his star stayed high for another SEVEN years after this before people finally caught on. You would have thought this would have been a pretty early warning.

Ah, but you see, he was a genius who was saving the world through EVs and space travel.

I do think a lot of it was based on sock puppets on social media. But I also think it is just an inherent side effect of all of us defaulting to being in content bubbles and many people going farther to outright block "political" content.

And then you just have the ongoing, and successful, efforts to vilify journalism and news media.
